Finding what you're passionate about

Posted in Group:

Hello all,

I am having a difficult time as far as my career goes. I have a degree in Social Work, and I have worked with developmentally disabled children, at-risk youths, senior citizens, and victims of domestic violence. I know that what I do makes a difference in the lives of others, but I feel like I want to do something else. I get up each day and dread going to work, and once I'm there I am constantly watching the clock. I have to work for my paycheck, so quitting is not an option. I have worked in the field for over ten years, and for the past six I have felt like I needed a change. I'm not sure what I want to do, so how do you find what you are passionate about?

I have found that often we know what we want to do, we just don't have the true desire to change. In other words we allow things to get in our way of change. Quitting before you get something is understandable, but why not apply for jobs you think you might like, nothing says you cannot look around and see what your options are. So the question is, "what are you waiting for?"

That is something to consider, CK.
